Question Collector help with information on my 1903's?

    Hi folks …

I'm dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to U.S. arms and I'm looking at selling off the pieces I have to make room for my focus, Germanicon K98ks.

Anyway, not sure what I have in 1903's or how to describe them, let alone establish a fair price, so any feedback from serious collectors in this forum would be appreciated. I have gathered some information, but it's limited.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Glad to help, Badger -- one thing -- I assume you're planning on selling them in Canadaicon? Sometimes the prices are quite a bit different than you find in the States.

Your rifle, S/N 3203231, has been overhauled, refinished, and re-assembled from mixed parts. On top of that, a private gunsmith has replaced the original barrel with an '03-A3 barrel, which he modified to fit on the '03. The replacement barrel, especially a modified '03-A3 barrel, substantially de-values the rifle. I value the rifle at about $500.

S/N 3147282 has been re-stocked with a replacement scant stock and a replacement handguard. I note that the barrel has an ugly gash in the left side. And some parts have been replaced, including the trigger guard/floorplate assembly, the rear sight/windage knob asssembly, the buttplate, and the bolt sleeve/firing pin assembly. The remaining parts of the rifle, however, appear original and have not been refinished. I value the rifle in the $600-$700 range.

    Hope this helps.
