No problems with this op rod...but can you take a look? Novice here.

First dis-assembly of a CMPicon Garandicon I purchased from a seller on Gunbroker. Have no issues firing the rifle using Greek and Federal Garand ammo. I have about 100 rounds through it. The seller said he only had about 100 rounds through it. I did have a squib this weekend with a Greek round which made me do a full dis-assembly of the rifle. The squib bullet barely left the brass and lodged in the throat. A range officer was nice enough to poke it free.

In my dis-assembly I took these pics of the op rod. It has a curve in the north-south axis, there is no rubbing when I slide the rod without the bolt installed. I am assuming it ok, but would like your eyes. I have a H&R receiver with a SA op rod.

Thanks to all for your input.

    Randy

Actually this is a question that arises once or twice a year, you can read a lot of responses regarding your question by using the search function on this site. We ALL have those bends or at least should have. As for the squib, you should check each round individually that you purchase from CMPicon, they even have this warning on their web site.

    WARNING - Surplus Ammunition
    EStore Order Form
All ammunition is subject to deterioration over time. Customers should expect that 5% to 15% of the cartridges in any can may exhibit some stages of discoloration or corrosion or other abnormalities. As with any surplus ammunition, each and every round should be carefully checked before use.
Deformed or otherwise suspect rounds should not be fired.
These cartridges are aged surplus military ammunition. This ammunition is NOT newly-manufactured, and is sold STRICTLY IN “AS IS” CONDITION, with no warranty expressed or implied.

I have found about a dozen rounds this past year that look like the picture on their site, corroded, mine came from a spam can that had no signs of having a suspect seal. If its light it will clean up with a scotch brite pad and I use them in one of my older bolt action rifles. I'm not recommending this, it's my choice, but if the round won't shake and the corrosion is more than minimal, I discard the round safely at my local range (they have a receptacle for bad ammo, don't toss it in a brass container, those guys don't like live rounds).

    Welcome to the forums ..

You might want to try our Google CSE custom search engine located in the top right corner below the words "Advanced Search". It only searches our site using Google techniques and can be quite efficient. For example, in your case, type in the words curved op rod and see what happens ..

You might want to try other descriptive variants as well, to see if that helps narrow down your search ...

    Regards,
    Doug
