Maybe she was thinking about something else - like missing a father, brother, or sweetheart.

A horrible day marking buttsockets at BSA would still be an Excellent day at Fazackerly up through about late '43.

Unusual place for an Enfield examiner's mark on a No4 isn't it? More usually seen on No1's in that position, no?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

Looks like an Enfield mark just above an early Post-WWII rebuild date. So, would guess the mark and date were done at the same shop visit?

You should get something that ugly out of your collection and sell it to me, I am willing to sacrifice and take it off your hands.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
