    Front sight seals

Does anyone know if these are even around anymore? I have a nice narrow base gas cylinder on a 700K rifle I would love to put one on it.

They do show up on Ebay some times. I've seen them still in wrap but it may cost you $50...

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the purpose of this seal?

I believe the seal was originally meant to prevent a soldier from moving the front sight. I think by 1943 they decided to stop using them.

    front sight screw seal

Photos shows an SA rifle in the 80K serial range that was rebuilt with a Buffalo Arms rev 19 barrel. The gas cylinder had the saw cut applied then the seal was installed and everything refinished, second photo shows some original SA 1940 gas cylinders with original Attachment 59359Attachment 59360 sight screw seals, there are variations in the Winchester seals and SA seals
