SMLE MkIII - Chris Cone Collection
Featured here is a Standard Small Arms (LSA) Short Magazine Lee Enfield MkIII, built in 1917.
Knox Form shows several inspector proof markings as well as, a Broad Arrow and a re-barrel date of 1943. Likely this was the FTR date during which the rifle was converted to MkIII standards.
SSA stamped in the rear of the action body.
Original buttsocket markings show the 1917 date, FTR stamping and the "star" being "struck through". Officially denoting the rifle was converted back to the MkIII standard.
SSA stamped in the triggerguard next to the king screw.
