The stock and barrel are replacements. The bolt has been replaced or refinished.
There are some factual errors in the description which is unfortunate.
But these auctions do provide a sort of bell weather as to values.

Sorry, but CMP Auctions NEVER show what the market value of an item is. No one can compare with the prices they are able to get on items. Not knocking them at all in the slightest, just mearly stating an observation...

I agree that CMP auction prices tend to be high. On the other hand if there are people out there willing to pay those prices is that not the definition of the market?

With regard to A4's which the only rifles i follow that closely there have been some auction "flyers". A couple of years ago two separate rifles knocked down at over $8K each. They were nothing special. In one case the same rifle showed a second time about a year later suggesting that the original high priced bid was never full filled.

So can you or i expect to get a CMP price at the Dogpatch gunshow? Probably not - but as a general indicator of trends I think its of some value.

My buddy held the all-time high dollar record with CMP Auction. He paid over 8k for an M1C Garand. It had been re-parked and the wood very badly over-sanded. He was not happy, to say the least. I still don't think he can sell it for his cost, so I don't know about trends. If you pay too much, you have simply paid too much. Let the buyer beware applies on all transactions.

When you win an auction from CMP, what you get that has the "added value" is the box, the paperwork, and the screen shot of the auction results. That provides the buyer the irrefutable provenance that in 20 years will be worth more than the premium paid. My .02c.

Amen! although I am a bit surprised some of the defects were nnot apparent on the datasheet they prepare and link to the auctions (M1's only AFAIK).

The way teh software wors is it pickes up the highest ammount of the previous bid and moves to the next open figure.

So bidder 5696 last bid of 4600 also had a high bid of 7050.00. Biddre 5501 placed a high dollar ammount thak 7,050. Someone wanted this bad.

I need yo ask the CMP if I can sell my A4 on their web site.
