Enforcer, Pecar and other scopes
Parker Hale rings/bases - Military Surplus Collectors Forums
Further to the above and sundry previous threads Enforcers seem to have been supplied to police forces with Pecar, sundry other or no scopes.
Several questions.
Can anyone elaborate?
Supplied with/without scopes presumably down to the individual force requirements?
Pecar scopes came in 26mm and 1" bodies - anyone know when/why.
A previous thread ? gave some indication of Pecar scope ID numbers - anyone know manufacturing dates/numbers?
My Pecar is a 9200 series - dont know if it was original, police or subsequent owner supply?

My understanding is that the Enforcer could be supplied with various 'options' including with / without a Pecar 4-10 scope, a bipod, a PH5E/4 rear sight or a night sight.
It seems as if it was 'budget dependent' in that the Police could order the Enforcer without the 'extras' and then as budget allowed they could purchase the parts as necessary.
There have been instances of Enforcers with non-standard scopes which could have been added later, eg. If the local firearms officer liked Schmidt & Bender he would add one later.
The scope numbers I have recorded are in various series :
72xxx
91xxx
73xxx
50xxx
83xxx
31xxx
With the Met Police all falling into the 72xxx series. (maybe they bulk ordered)
Basically all Enforcers were manufactured in 1974/75 but they could have ordered scopes from Pecar as and when they needed them and received 'old stock' hence the variation in 1" / 26mm and serial numbers.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Maybe time to start a Pecar scope serial number survey? Ok, all those out there with Enforcers, let Alan know your Pecar scope serial numbers, or the make and type of scope attached
Alan, you can add #52xxx to your list of serial numbers.
