setting sights
how do u set a sight on an M1
Garand? simple, stupid I know, but are there more ways
to do it and is there a place to look it up?

Oy vey, don't touch the front sight unless all else fails! Mr. Garand intended all adjustments to be made with the rear sight, that's why the sight seal was installed. Start at 9 clicks of elevation, zero windage. Fire a group. Use the elevation and windage knobs to move the center of the group to the 6:00 o'clock edge of the bull. That's your 200 yard battlesight zero. All M1
's need this, and it's simple, every recruit is taught how to do it in Basic Training. When you find your settings, stick a small piece of masking tape on the inside of the butt trap door with the numbers, like U 10 (up 10 clicks from the bottom) R2 (two clicks of right windage). That's your personal setting. It will be different for another shooter with the same rifle.
