Pretty much the same, 2"-3" high at 25 with the rear sight on '1-1.5' (100 to 150 yards. The thing is, all shots at 100 were expected to be about 6" high according to the 100 yard sighting target which was used at the depots after a rebuild, barrel or sight change. If you have a mil-spec carbine, the only way to change this is to install a taller front sight. I just go with it. I'll never have any tactical use for the carbine anyway. I have other things for that.

The 1953 edition of TM9-1276 (which I presume is the one you excerpted the target diagram from) is a terrible piece of technical writing. Having said that, according to the checklist and flow chart, only function firing was performed after rebuild. But the text jumbles up field maintenance, depot maintenance, repair, rebuild, return to stock, and return to user with no clear definitions so badly, almost anything is possible.
My best guess at what they were trying to say is that rebuilds for return to stock were not to be targeted. What is certain is that some portion were not to be targeted (it's just iffy on what fell into that class).
I also have doubts about the 100 yd. target diagram when comparing it to the 25 yd. target on the previous page. Can a round hit 12" high at 100 yds. yet be no higher than 3" high at 25 yds.? Wouldn't that only happen in zero gravity?

Why not sight in at 100 yds? Then see where it hits at 25 yds. Mine hits a 3-4" pattern at 100 yds, good enough for these old eyes. GK

I sighted the last carbine I re-built using this target. New front sight, filed to target. At 200 yds, the group was pretty much centered in a 12" bull, using a 6 o'clock hold. I was a happy camper.

Here's the 25 yard target from the TM. With the sight on 100/150, and the impact just above the dotted line at 25 yards, it will be close to POA/POI at 150 (at least with mine.) It will be about 3" high at 100 yards

That's good. I was looking through my files for the 25 yard target but couldn't find it. So where on that target is Point 'A', the sighting point? IIRC it is on center at the bottom of the black area. Your numbers sound better than mine. What I was trying to impart was the sighting system with non-adjustable front sight was set up for the 6:00 hold and POI at 25 and 100 will both be high. This target also has dimensions so you can easily make one. I'll scan it in and post it but I won't be able to do that before about 10 days. Anyway, even though we don't know exactly how high is okay at 25, the dotted line is definitely higher than the POA.

If you zero an M1
Carbine with GI spec ammo to 3" high at 100m, then your round would print about 1.2" high at 25m. If you are zeroed to point of aim at 100m, then your round would print about .5" high at 25m.
