M1917 strange front sight
I need to remplace my not original WINCHESTER M1917 front sight.
This one was badly reworked with a lime as you can see it on the pictures.
The sight is marked at his left 060... should I order a 060 or a 090 ?
best regards from France

I think Chuck he wants to know if that's a .060" or .090". Which way up to read it. I'd just measure it with a micrometer and go from there. .060" makes more sense to me as .090" would be like a wall in height. .060" is over half inch which is tall as is.

1/2 inch is .500 , not .050 .
They are prob'ly only measuring the blade that stands above the deck .

The overall measure gives a height of 0.49 inch (blade=0.28 and the base=0.21), so I'm far from 060 or 090...

So then you don't want either? You've been told that one is a .060...or perhaps Chuckindenver can send you the one closest to .049 and your rifle will remain zeroed as it probably is now. They may have completely altered that sight because it was the only one they had and made due. Have you shot it? Does it group and is it zeroed?

I don't know exactely why this sight was so altered, perhaps to be able in the past to better bring the sights into alignment with a particular target....for the moment I don't reckon that this rifle is correctly zeroed because I must set the rear sight at 600 yards to be able to hit an 8 in.target at 100 m !
Grouping is not to bad.
