Retro Flash Hiders
Anyone have drawings for the duckbill & three prong flash hiders? Proving to be quite tricky to get the retro ones in the UK
, so figure making my own could be the way forward if I can get the dimensions...

early M16 flash hider
I know that years ago the M16
tool (this is the second type in my photo) would not fit the duckbill or very first type flash hider. The distance between the prongs is smaller on the duckbill while all of the standard tapered three prong hidersAttachment 102613Attachment 102612 appear to have a larger distance between the prongs.

I forgot that I have one of these tools, seeing your pics reminded me and reminded me of a question I’ve never had answered. - do you have any idea what the shallow “v” in the handle is for ? And what the two cut-outs are for? I can’t imagine they’re just for decoration, being military issue, so there must have been a use at the time?

The shallow "v" on top supports the open prong flash hider for removal or installation, cut out on left side is for the birdcage flash hider and square hole in center is for
torque wrench and I forgot what the cut-out on the right is for ?

The two cutouts on the sides of the wrench are for the flash hider and the back of the lower receiver extension. Not that you should just torque away at that...

Aha! Took me a little while to figure that out, but then it hit me that the shallow “v” and the two decorative holes together formed a “Y” shape, which fit perfectly over the 3prongs. Thanks.
