Can't see any mention of a number for the rifle so that a check can be made of its authenticity.
Without that I'm not about to start criticising it. The amount I would say was spot on but there are lots of pieces missing in the case to make it a complete sale.
Lots of stake marks and awful finishing on the metalwork but who am I?

The number on the wrist doesn't appear to have a prefix, it is just 5 numbers. The scope tin shows the number 13328 which I am led to believe is a genuine number from Batch 50 from Jan 1972.

If that is the rifle number then it would appear genuine.

The sidewall shows it to be an ROF 1944 rifle.

Unfortunately he has neglected to take photos of the important parts!

He also has a No.4 MkI T for sale as well looks very nice . The l42a1 looks like the ones sold by Navy Arms back in 1994 or so . The cleaning stick is home made .the lens cleaning brush is one the owner purchased in a craft store .

It's a 1941 Malty IMHO. That roll-stamped "R.O.F.M. No.4.Mk.I.1941" marking was reputedly dropped as it gave too much information. That or its neatness "showed up" too much the shabby stampings used elsewhere.
The 13328 serial number in the scope case fits the ranges seen in other "T's from those early Maltby rifles.
Apparently the mag doesn't match. Who knows what else doesn't.
Needs the forend splice repair and the barrel looks to be bearing on the underside of the handguard where it exits same.

On the magazine base it has = A (cannot make out!) then the numbers 4954 cannot figure the second serif as it is right on the join and blown up it still looks shite I believe this to be the rifles No. as the mag has barring out from another rifle serial and judging from what you can see on the wrist even blown up it is a short numeric numbers with a serif stamp again to hard to make out. Thats what I cooked up from the pics anyway?

RoyW Pic #11 from what I can deduce 26013 is stamped on the rifles butt wrist with a serial barred out on top so I gather that the scope in the bracket is in fact 26013 and not the number you quoted from the inside scope tin lid, if the scope has that No. you said then its not matched to the L42 its with.
But I say it will be as the scope tin has it on the outside and the rifles wrist bears the same serial, well I hope it does

The number I quoted was referring to the Rifle number being written on the scope tin, not the scope number.
