    On the magazine base it has = A (cannot make out!) then the numbers 4954 cannot figure the second serif as it is right on the join and blown up it still looks shite I believe this to be the rifles No. as the mag has barring out from another rifle serial and judging from what you can see on the wrist even blown up it is a short numeric numbers with a serif stamp again to hard to make out. Thats what I cooked up from the pics anyway?

    RoyW Pic #11 from what I can deduce 26013 is stamped on the rifles butt wrist with a serial barred out on top so I gather that the scope in the bracket is in fact 26013 and not the number you quoted from the inside scope tin lid, if the scope has that No. you said then its not matched to the L42 its with.
    But I say it will be as the scope tin has it on the outside and the rifles wrist bears the same serial, well I hope it does

    The number I quoted was referring to the Rifle number being written on the scope tin, not the scope number.
