Very nice. I remember when Numrich had those by the metric dozen. All brand new.

Thanks Jim, This stock did not come from Numrich, it was a replacement stock and a gift from my 1st Sgt when I was an armorer. There were some nice M14
stocks with this pattern too. I was never able to find matching handguards until a few years later.

Joe, You are correct, it is an Overton stock. Mine is without any proof, only used BLO
over the years. I will look for a photo of my favorite pre-war stock. Robert

Robert, The only marking on my stock is the plain "P" proof without circle, no DAS. That is some great looking wood you have. You were very lucky to be able to find such nice matching handguards. Joe

handguards
Joe, I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that the birch replacement M1
stocks were around for a while before the birch handguards. Most of the birch handguards were also without any fancy wood.
Photos are of a Winchester fancy walnut front handguard, very difficult to find - something like this you only find by accident.

pre war fancy wood
Pre war fancy wood is difficult to find, some of the better examples are from the Winchester production. This deluxe wood either came from their custom shop or was destined to be sent there.

Very nice. Beautiful stocks. I especially like the one that is not modified. Ya just don't see them much anymore.
