1903 Springfield Warner Swasey
I found this 1903 at a gun show several years ago. I noticed that there were three holes that had been filled in on the receiver's left side. I was able to remove the plugs and expose the threaded holes. Spent several years finding the mount and was even able to find a 1913 Warner Swasey sight that is within several hundred numbers of my rifles serial number! Then to put the icing on the cake, I found this cut-a-way replica of a Model 15 Maxim silencer!
The barrel is dated 1918
Scope serial number: 7049

Very nice set. The best part would definitely be the Maxim, you don't even see the replicas much.

Very nice rifle and great restoration! Did you also stake the screws on the inside of the receiver? There recently has been offered a cutaway Maxim silencer on ebay.com, but the asking price was $3000. How much did you pay for yours?

Thanks for the compliments! I did not stake the screws, and I did see the Maxim on ebay. I paid significantly less than what that individual is offering.

I've been looking around and you can't even find the replica cutaways so that was an excellent find. I've only seen a couple and that was a while ago.

I wonder how much a licensed collector of that kind of stuff would have to pay for an original intact and registered one of that type? Man, who could afford to be a collector these days?

Here's my reproduction . Made it for my Reising M65 " rat rifle " .

It uses modern guts so as to last longer ( as well as to be feasible to build now days ) .

While closer inspecting your pictures again I noticed your scope rail has an additional third locking slot towards the front. Did you add this one? And did you make the cutout on the stock yourself, or did the rifle still have the original stock?

Very observant! I have been baffled by the extra notch as well. That is how it was sent to me. I did make the cutout on the stock, as the original stock was most likely replaced around the time the receiver was plugged.
