1911A1 ORIGINAL ITHACA SHIPPING RECORDS
I wonder if anybody knows where would be possible to find/purchase the original ITHACA shipping records.

I think Ithaca still have them. They certainly had them when I wrote about an Ithica recovered from a crashed wartime glider loaded with troops. I'm sure that they wouldn't sell them - or do you want to purchase a copy of them?

So, Peter, you're saying one could contact Ithaca and get info from a serial? Do you recall what info they gave out? I have a 1944 myself...

I got in touch with ITHACA already, they do not have them.
I was told that when the assets of Ithaca Gun Company were sold off in New York in 2005, they obtained neither the old company’s records nor the specs and records for each individual gun Ithaca Gun Company sold up to that point in time.
I still hope that some of the 1911 experts of this forum will see this thread.

They told me the exact inspection date of the one we found, to the US Army at Augusta Georgia. The lady who signed the letter was Mrs O'Ackley.

Mr Laidler
Thanks for your answer.
FWIK some companies like COLT for instance kept meticulous records of their initial shipments of their frames and upon request & payment of a fee they can dispatch you the requested data, REMINGTON RAND's records if they still exist are probably lost in a warehouse somewhere.
It was a big deal in the collector community when ITHACA's original shipping records were found 23 years ago, and some advanced collectors now keep them very jealously.
Best regards.

Obviously I was referring to a copy of ITHACA's original shipping records that were found 23 years ago.
