Terry; it was the responsibility of the recieving unit to buy the rear sights (usually AJP 4/47 Twin Zero) and the front sight inserts, the front tunnel foresight came attached to the rifle with a bit of string!
The target sling was also purchased by the unit; during the 1970's pictures of the period show mainly leather 1917 Patt (M17) slings and the wider 2" AJP webbing target pattern slings attached to the rifle on the upper sling swivel and the sling swivel forward of the magazine.
The "single point" hadn't caught on in popularity at that time.
I dare say the 1937 Patt sling was used at times, my unit used it in NI on L42 A1's, it's a long time ago but I think it was because the L42 sling was either not avaliable or because it was deemed as being too complicated to adjust.
