Just checking over my Savage 7.62 conversion and noticed a gouge on the bed of the action just behind and below the extractor groove, caused by the bottom front outer corner of the bolt head cutting in as it closes finally on locking down the bolt. The action seemed to curl upward at that point, a bit too soon, stopping the bolt from closing completely. Is this common?.
I have shaved of the rutted bit and a bit of the upward curve and it now closes smoothly but I'm wondering why it happened????.
Any comments welcome, even rude ones if I'm being dim!.Information
