New member new IHC Garand

Thanks for having me on your forum.
I just bought a IHC M1 Garand, here is what I know about it.
IHC Receiver drawing # D6528291-D
Bolt D-6528287 IHC
Barrel SA F6535448 8 56 A228 This also has NM and a star on LH side between handguard and front sight
OP Rod D-6535382 IHC
Front Sight is a SA or H&R width .682 type 3A
Gas cylinder type 2C sight base width of .572
Gas lock type 3A unmarked high hump
Gas lock Screw type 3 IHC NHC
Stock appears to be a SA that is glass bedded
Upper handguard is unitized to lower band no screws

That is what I know anything you can add would be helpful.

What is the TE & MW of your barrel, & do you want to sell the barrel? Your IHC should have a LMR bbl.

Quite probably it was built up to match rifle specs by a competition shooter, it is NOT a Type I or Type II NM M1, as those were all built on SA recievers.

Enjoy a good shooter & try to find the right barrel for it.we have a Type II that could stand a better proper bbl.

At this point I do not want to sell barrel. I want to find out more information on my garand and then find proper barrel before I sell mine. Most of the LMR barrels I have found are shot out. I do not have a TE or MW guage. Acording to the bullet test I have .163 from the muzzle to neck of brass case.

Gimp, not all GI type II National Match rifles were built on SA receivers. This is proven by all the H&R NM guns that have been released by the CMP. His IHC rifle could very well be a NM gun...

His IHC may be a rifle team built NM, it's not the work of an SA built DCM Sales NM.

The stock appears to have been used for match shooting but not with that IHC receiver. The numbers in the channel were the last four of the receiver that was bedded to that stock. You have a nice looking garand. I would not change the barrel go out and shoot it. If you want an LMR barrel take your time and one will pop up eventually or trade your barrel for an LMR barrel. For a 4.52 receiver I would look for a mid 53 barrel and should have a punch mark afther LMR on the side of the barrel.

good luck on finding an LMR bbl with proper date range, that has a vg MW & TE. It took us 5 years to find an LMR with proper date, that gauged new on MW & TE, finally found it 4 years ago,got it from Rog Wargos that I met on the old Jousters M1 page, and Rog treated us right on the price. Thanks again Rog, yup still have that old Binder & it still shoots good.

Yes, I can already see a LMR barrel is not that hard to come by, but a good LMR is quite hard to find. I will continue to look, I am not in a hurry so I will find one soon enough.
