    1903 Remington bolt?

Need some help again on 1903 Remington bolts.

About what serial number range/date did the following features appear on Remington bolts?

    1. Large "R" to small "R" on bottom of bolt handle?

    2. Drain hole in end of safety?

    3. Dimple at 12:00 position in safety detent groove?

As usual thanks for any and all help!
    Chuck

The reason I asked the above questions is a friend picked up an early NZicon stamped rifle (s/n 3015275, 12-41 barrel date). His rifle is in excellent condition and appears to be correct except for the bolt.
His bolt has a small "R" on the bottom of the bolt handle.
    Safety has the drain hole.
Bolt sleeve does not have dimple.
Cocking piece is the later Remington style.

I'm thinking this rifle has had a later Remington bolt added sometime in it's life time.

    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Chuck

The rifle's bolt has indeed been replaced. All the characteristics you describe appeared in much later rifles.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you John, I was pretty sure it was a later bolt.
    Take care
