Handguard Id for a M1 Carbine?

I need a handguard for my import blue sky M1icon carbine (barrell marked 11-43). How do I know which one to buy? 2 vs 4 rivet? and what mfg, inland, ibm, etc.?

    Thanks
    John

    Offpiste,

Were you asking because you just want one that will fit, or were you looking for a specific maker for restoration? All M1icon carbine handguards should fit.

The name on the receiver and serial number would be required to correctly answer your question.

serial #219819 not sure mfg. stamped on receiver looks like a simple house drawing. underneath the spring stamped C *** O *** L. (Asterisk in place of unidentified marks) and on the sliding rectangle block the letter I.

That serial number is for an early Inland made about Feb. 1943. The barrel is a replacement during a rebuild. A correct hand guard would be a two rivet type marked OI or HI. Both are correct for Inland. The stock should be marked the same in the sling well to be correct for an Inland.

    Thanks Bruce
unfortunately the serial # on the sling well is worn and unreadable.

I cleaned the sling well and can make out a 1981 which is the middle of the serial # . I think this is the correct stock. The #8 is very clear.
    Thanks again

What I meant was the stock should be marked the same as the hand guard with OI or HI in the sling well but not with the serial number or part of it.

Well talkin about seeing something that isn't there. I looked again and now see different #'s. I guess the 8 could be a O or H and the 1 an I. Anyways I'm done looking and now browsing to locate one.
Geez my eyes must really suck.
    Thanks again
    John
