    Shooting L42A1 Advice

    Greetings,

So I have an L42A1 that Im planning to shoot next week in a vintage rifle shoot. The problem is its sighted in for 100 yards(which is the limit of the local range) but the shoot is two hundred yards. This is iron sights so I took the scope off and found that I had to set the sights on a bit more than 200 meters for the 100 yard range. Can anyone give me useful suggestions on the proper correction? Getting to the 200yard range early is not a good option. Does anyone know what the cross over trajectory point is for this rifle?

    Thanks/Robin

Come up about 2 clicks for 200yd from your 100yd setting (1 min clicks roughly, a little less w/ the longer barrel but it still works out on average.) If the 200 yard bull is bigger than the 100 yard you shot then a bit of fine tuning will be required assuming a six o'clock hold. A center o' mass hold was generally used for "field work", though!

    Robin, Welcome to the forum.

Between 100 and 200 yards you'll have a 2.5" to 4" drop with a 100 yard zero depending on ammunition.

    Thanks for the help

Thanks to all. I also found some good data in the archives (in particular a reprint on marksmanship from the Canadianicon army) so hopefully I'll stay on the paper. /Regards/Robin
