    Quality Hardware with Winchester Stock

    Hi everyone.

I just received my CMPicon carbine. Its a 266xxx service grade Quality Hardware. This is my first carbine.

First of all BZ to CMP. Great service, and the Carbine is in much better condition than I expected.

I am not sure where I want to go from here, restore or keep it, and shoot it. I'll have to think about it some more.

The stock is a low wood Winchester that is is very good shape. I was worried I would end up with a birch pot belly, but I guess I lucked out on this one. I don't have pictures yet, The ordnance stamp is clearly visible and I can n find no cracks.

So here is my question, seeing my stock is in such good shape with clear markings, if I go to restore my carbine, would it be easier to find the correct Q-RMC high wood stock for my receiver, or find a correct receiver for my stock.

Thanks for having such a great forum for us new guys to learn from.

Finding a WRA carbine to go in the stock would statistically be easier.

The serial number you posted 266xxx is in the Inland block. Even if you left off a digit at the end 266xxxx it would fall into an Underwood block.

Sorry about that, I had my notes mixed up. Its a 160xxxx

BrianQ. That is what I was thinking. The good part is I m in no hurry and I am very pleasd with the carbine I received. It does not have paint or other stamps on the stock, the finish is in good shape and the bore and chamber look good.

I appreciate all the good info on here.

    Thanks.
