    Help With S'G' Parts

I have a few S'G' parts, I think. I would like to get some opinions.

Do the markings on the sear look legit?
On the firing pin, I think I can see the "prime" slashes, but maybe it's just wishful thinking.
As far as the trigger goes, it does have the notch in the back, but I can't find the slashes on the SG. All of the Saginaw Gear triggers I have seen have been marked on the side. This one does have the marking on top, which I think is right for S'G'.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

    Thanks, Greg V

I realize this is an old post, but I happen to have an S'G' spread all over the table right now. I've compared your parts to mine and for the most part they look nearly identical. Your parts must be either new old stock or refinished? There doesn't seem to be any wear marks on them at all. Your trigger is different than mine in several ways: 1. I can't really see the "prime" marks on yours 2. Mine has a machined cut just above the S'G' mark that yours doesn't have. Mine is a Type 2, maybe yours is Type 1? 3. Yours has a little "bump" just below that extra notch at the back - mine doesn't have that. It looks like the prime marks on the firing pin are OK, and in the correct place. Do you still have any of those parts?

    Hi Bob,
I saved the picture you sent me.
IIRC, Only IP (?) and S'G' triggers had the extra notch cut on the back, some were cut deeper/lighter than others.
The ones I have are more like yours, the notch is a little more subtle.
Looks as though the prime marks on Greg V's trigger may have been lost in the slight pitting or possibly lost if sand blasting and re-parked.

    HTH,

    Here's yours to compare...

Charlie: Can you see that machined area just above the marking on my trigger? Do you think that was done to change the angle and make it into a Type 2?

    Thanks, Bob

Probably just a grinding mark on top of the 'Pedestal' fitting/de-burring the trigger (?).
Someone else may be of more help, but I'm pretty sure that all the S'G's used only the Type II trigger. Not sure about the earlier IP triggers, but I think they to were all type 2..

Here's a closeup of my S'G' trigger with the "groove" - just made different than Greg's?
