If you just want to shoot it, I got some good surplus ammo from AIM a few weeks ago. Very clean, relatively recent manufacture (70's). Less than $100 delivered for 340 rounds on stripper clips.

If you are looking to hunt with it or get good brass to reload, a bit tougher. It seems that 8mm has become one of those more expensive rounds these days. I've seen it anywhere from $18-$29 a box commercially. The $18 isn't bad by any means but it's hard to find at that price.

Sorry. It's a surplus ammo/parts/gun place. For ammo, they require you to forward a copy of your drivers license if you don't have a firearms license. You only have to do it once.

If you only get one can you don't get a can opener. The cans are pretty tough to open without one but it can be done. I used a hacksaw.

the Romanian stuff is good. the primer isn't as hard as the Yugoicon stuff so you don't have to replace the spring in your bolt when using it.

in the past i've used the rubber mallet and chisel/flat headed screwdriver technique to open the cans. takes about 20 minutes but it works

but it is corrosive so like Calif-Steve said, if you don't know how to clean the bolt and bore properly after using corrosive ammo, don't get it

Pay attention. Surplus ammo is ALWAYS corrosive. You do know how to clean it correctly? OK? Privi Partisan ammo is very good stuff and you might find it cheap. Commerical is not corrosive. Good luck.

I've tried F+M, Privi and S&B but the best results I have had are from a handload using either the Privi 198gr FMJ or the 200gr SMK with 47gr of N140. Matches the calibration of the sight ramp on my byf41 pretty perfectly.

My rifle was made in 1937, is it safe to assume that the barrel bore is .323? is all commercial 8mm ammo .323 dia?
