GunReports.com looks at Marlin's Model 60, a tube-fed semiautomatic .22 rimfire rifle, among the most popular on the market today. That model has sold nearly 3 million copies over a 30-year period. Like any product with such a long service record, this Marlin has undergone a number of revisions. The Model 60 has been offered in a variety of configurations and under several different names. The Marlin Model 60 is not a glamorous rifle, doesn't retail for a fortune, and gets used, abused, and neglected. Here's how to fix the major problems it has.

I purchased a Marlin Model 99(predessor to the Marlin Model 60) through the Army PX system in 1967 while in Viet Nam. Mail Ordered to my home. Beautiful Walnut Stock with flawless function for many years.

I keep it cleaned and have fired 1000's of rounds in it. It began to malfunction; ejection and feed problems and I was unable to fiqure out why....Took it to two local "Gunsmith's"..both of which said it was "Worn Out". Struck me kinda strange as it was still shooting 1/4 inch groups at 25 yards!!..

I've lived with the ejection/feed problems..2 or 3 faults per 18 round tube loads for many years.

Finally I found your post... and Thank You for the info. A web search revealed that Brownell's had a Marlin "feedthroat" conversion Kit. I ordered it today. I'm hoping that with the info contained in your post and the "Kit" my problems will be resolved!!

    Thanks Again!!
