Hello Loren,
I read your post earlier this week and have been wondering since, who made these?
I've misplaced my copy of WB with some notes and can't recall who made the Circled and Single Boxed B/R hammers.

I do remember that the B/R hammer in the double box isn't a Rock Ola, but a WWII replacement hammer.

If anyone can help....
We're looking for the makers names of these hammers:
B/R...
Circled BR...
Single boxed B/R....
Double boxed B/R..... Which is the WWII replacement hammer.

I believe they are all Bruner/Ritter hammers. Have no info on a subcontractor for Rockola who used B/R hammer markings. I have a contract listing from Bill Ricca for Bruner/Ritter hammers and it ran from Apr.`44 to July`44. Roughly for 169,000 pieces. Rockola was allowed to clean up the floor into May 1944 but, I think the number was a little over 9000 carbines. I am afraid some of the newbies will buy these thinking they are for Rockola carbines(due to the R being in the code). Same with the R front sights(Rudy Furnace took over the Neidner contract in late 1944 due to them not being able to complete the contract)and the W marked hammers. Just hate to see someone get taken over being overzealous in having a "correct" carbine.

There are plenty of them out there being represented as used by Rock Ola.
I thought some of the B/R marked type III's were used by RMC. Just not the B/R in the double squared box.

That is exactly the type I `m talking about. I have the exact same hammer but, mine is cut for a M2. Probably done at Springfield Armory, still no definitive answer on who was the subcontractor was if
it was used by Rockola.
