    Home Guard Brens

Posting a couple of pics of some Home Guard 'training aid' Brens which might lighten up an otherwise dull Sunday
Yes they are very crude, not made by a carpenter of any description but they bare a likeness
They came from the personal affects which included mostly paperwork of Lieut D M Rowland a WW1 RE officer who became Battalion Inteligence officer for the 8th Batt (Herts) Home Guard.Unfortunatly the rifles that went with them were allready burned.

(pictures were taken when they were still liberaly coated in dust !)

The Home Guard also had a set of bipod legs that went around the top band of a SMLE and a carrying handle affair thinggy that gripped the fore-end around the rear handguard area. THese were made by Parker Hale, just pre war and very few sets survive now but were meant to replicate the section Bren Gun on exercise. To be honest, only the Britishicon could come up with these, er....... whatsits.......!

Anyone got a picture of one?

Ther was one for sale on Evilbay a few weeks back. I cannot recall what it went for though. From the picture, it would seem a very easy thing to replicate. Im suprised no one has done this already?....
