Did the Title scare you ??
Here's a picture from the book written by Gordon L. Olson.
Book title is, Furniture Family,
The story about the Irwin Family and the Ups, Downs, and Turnarounds of the Companies They Built.
Known to us as the Robert Irwin Co. Who made stocks in Grand Rapids, Mi.
Known today as the Irwin Seating Company.
They were kind enough to send me a copy with the parts about their trials in WWII high lighted.
Just wanted to share a couple pictures from the book.
This first one shows their Mega belt sander......
The caption to the right of this 2nd picture reads;
Despite the publicity generated when Grand Rapids mayor George Welsh (right) helped roll out its first two crates of carbines, the Irwin-Pedersen Arms Company was unable to meet its deadlines and lost its contract to General Motors Saginaw Steering Gear Division.
(GRPL Robinson Collection)
Here I tried a close up of the crate on the left. Sorry, Best I could do....
I think (?) I can see;
10 US Carbines Cal .30 M1
XXXXX Steering Gear Div.
XXXXXXXX
Grand Rapids Plant
