how can you tell how much is usgi parts

Things I know

barrel marked underwood 10-43
lever style safety
forged rear sight
mis matched finish between grey and black

bayo lug
stock is very nice shape
barrel is clean and looks crisp to the eye

any help would be great

Are you looking to buy this carbine? What is the price? etc.

Century imported some carbines from Israel a few years back. They were Mash Az' Civil Guard (neighborhood watch with guns) weapons. THey were universally excellent, based on the ones I have seen. Israelis know how to take care of weapons. The others: Excell, Blue Sky, etc can range from VG to fence post grade. Check the muzzle for errosion using a USGI M2 ball 30-06 round if you do not have a muzzle gauge. between 1/8" to 1/4" of gap between case mouth and crown is good.

Most imports will be mixmasters, but for the most part be all USGI parts. Korean and Italian imports sometimes have domestic wood instead USGI walnut or birch.

Yes I am looking to purchase it. Im just not sure what to look for. I am pretty good at knowing if a gun is in good shape. I just dont want to over pay. Asking price is 625.00

ARL.ORD. ARLINGTON, VA. started importing M1 Carbines about the same time BLUE SKY quit. They were about the same quility. Their carbines were also from Korea and everything looked the same as BLUE SKYs did. You need to look them over real good. Most will have more wear than they show. But thats about what they sell for.

Mac....I assume you're looking mainly for a shooter but something that also looks decent. If you're not sure about the import, keep an eye out here and over on the CMP forum for carbines for sale as you're likely to get a better product from folks you can trust. Don't be in a rush to buy. I have a nice Winchester with Rockola barrel, gauges about 2 or less (good), with mixed parts. All parts GI and the only downside is the birch M2 stock which is not especially pretty. Birch is hard to stain and make nice. Its priced in your range. I also have a Saginaw on the way that I'm confident is all GI in that same price range. None are imports.
