Underwood Carbine questions

I purchased this Underwood Carbine for $600 and have no clue what I bought. It is a Bavarian Forestry Police marked carbine with what looks like Austrian marks too. It has a nice stock and all parts appear to be U marked. Your input appreciated. Regards, Rick.

It is mostly Underwood with later rebuilt parts. Do a google on Bavarian carbines. Sorry I can't find the link to Jim Mock's site. If your stock has no rebuild stamps on it, It would sell for $250.00 by itself. Bavarian carbines are very good carbines well taked care of.

You should also check out Jim's site about commercial carbines. Just a few years ago most aspects of the commercial carbines seemed a mystery, and most things I was told turned out to be wrong.
I bought two .22 carbines for my (then) young son, and became interested of their history but back then could find anything.

Jim did some unbelievable research to compile this info. (It's Phenomenal!)
He's also spent a small fortune buying commercial carbines, etc just to compile all the info. I get so caught up reading the interesting and sometimes colorful stories of the companies who made these I have spent an hour at a time hooked!

Really nice example of both an Underwood and a Bavarian. You did very well with the price too, provided the muzzle wear is okay. Is there an Intrac mark on the barrel, or is she a CMP? That would give you an idea when it came back to the states (first batch went to Intrac in the 90s, the others were for sale by CMP in the last year).

I just built an Underwood B code rifle up from a barreled receiver. Can't beat a typewriter carbine!
