    Inherited new carbine, optics question?

I just received an M1icon carbine that belonged to my dad, and I want to add a red dot sight to it. What would you guys recommend as far as mounts, I do not want to alter the gun in anyway just something that can bolt on with no modification. Here are a few that I have been looking at let me know what you think.

Amazon.com: M1 Carbine Scope Mount with Rings: Sports Outdoors

M1 .30 Carbine Forward ("Scout") Scope Mount

Also are their any advantages and/or disadvantages to scout style mounts with red dot optics

    Thanks

Go with the "Scout" and hang on to the handguard.
