    Garand Sling?

I came across this in one of my box of bits and pieces. It would seem to be a garand sling made with steel fittings. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Is the web made of nylon? I'm only familiar with the garand slings ups to just post WWII. I'll bet Bill Ricca knows exactly what it is and everything about it.

If it's nylon, I think that makes it M14icon.

The slick material makes me think early M16icon, but it's all roughly the same time period.

Agreed, I think it was just a matter of holding them over to the next weapon. Definitely also early M16. You could probably find guys that would swear they were issued oniy canvas slings for their M14icon.
