    Picture of Ammo from CMP

If somebody, like me, is wondering what the .30-06 that CMPicon sells, in .30 cans, looks like ... well, here you go. I bought a can of loose rounds, and a can with 8 round clips in bandos. I've never had a .30 cal can before, love it! Lot easier to handle than the .50 cal can/beasts.

OK there's the ammo but you still need to send pics of the rifle??? By the way, what headstamp are the cartriges? All the same? Who made the clips? Bandoleer markings?

Based on what I have seen....

My orders for clipped M2 Greek ammo in ammo cans were all headstamped, "HXP." Of course the year of the headstamp mark will vary, depending on the production year. I've been lucky, I usually got ammo from a single lot number in a correctly marked can. Clips manufacturers varied but the lot numbers on the bandoleers matched the marked can.

Then, my last two cans were all headstamped HXP '63, packed in American marked 7.62 cans (just like the picture). The banoleers were recycled American and other brands. Same for the clips. And YES, the bullets did attract a magnet.

With my "spam can" ammo orders (for boxed ammo) the lot numbers on the paper boxes matched the can markings.

BUT I've heard.........of mixed "repacked" stuff being received in spam cans and in ammo cans.

I've never ordered the "loose" ammo (as I would expect a hodgepodge of years and manufacturers). Reports on the CMPicon web have more or less confirmed my thoughts on the loose stuff.

    Bottom line:

It's still "the luck of the draw," as CMP doesn't give a guarantee.

As for the corrosion issue. Some have recieved excellent ammo and some have gotten more than the expected 5-15% that CMP warns about. But, IF you get "trashed ammo"......contact CMP customer service, they are "FAIR."

    REMEMBER THIS FROM CMP........
    WARNING - Surplus Ammunition

All ammunition is subject to deterioration over time. Customers should expect that 5% to 15% of the cartridges in any can may exhibit some stages of discoloration or corrosion or other abnormalities. As with any surplus ammunition, each and every round should be carefully checked before use.

Deformed or otherwise suspect rounds should not be fired.

These cartridges are aged surplus military ammunition. This ammunition is NOT newly-manufactured, and is sold STRICTLY IN “AS IS” CONDITION, with no warranty expressed or implied.
    Aloha, Mark
