    1905 Springfield

Received my 1905 Springfield 16" yesterday, I was anxious to open it for inspection as these items have come with a variety of conditions (i.e. original or nearly, Greek parked, Greek control #'s stamped in guard, etc.) Well when I finally had completed some cleanup and gave it a cursory inspection I am pleased. My first opinion (since I'm not an expert) is that it still has it's original finish from 1918, the walnut grips are period with my cuts being approx. 8 per inch. The only noticeable wear is the tip which has worn the blued finish due no doubt from the years of use involving the various scabbards.

I used the following site to assist me in in the identification,
    Bayo_Points_42

Just using some simple math my serial number falls in the Mar/Apr time frame for manufacture, that is only assuming that the total number produced during 1918 divided by 12, then adding the monthly averages until my serial # was struck, not fact, just a WAG.

And if anyone is curious regarding the blue tip loaded in the en bloc, they're DEN 42.
I added the 1943 PAL I received a month ago, it had Greek park that I removed with naval jelly, original finish was underneath and not affected by removal.
