    'Z' marking on GRI Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.3

I recently acquired a GRI Lee-Enfield and noticed the 'z' markings on the receiver and forestock. The seller indicated that the rifle went through a rebuild. I was hoping someone could help me to figure out if the whatever caused 'z' was dealt with in the rebuild and how worried I should be about this. Thanks in advance.

Two relatively poor quality photos of the markings in question...

Isn't that just part of the serial number?

Here's a few links to other threads where Peter and others have discussed the pitfalls of DP and ZF marked rifles ...

I'm new to all this and couldn't find quite the right info on that particular marking. I read those threads, but they didn't seem to mention this exact situation.

I'd love if the 'z' was just part of the serial and not an unit-armourers mark but wanted to be safe before trying it out. Thanks for your help.

"X" and "Z" are common Ishapore number prefixes. Your "Z" is just part of the rifle number.

Here's a link that will help with official markings.

It's a site provided by Amatikuluicon with some good information to bookmark for the future.

Thanks for all the advice. Greatly appreciated. I'll give it a try this weekend.
