    No4 Mk2 enfield

Today at gun show I seen a No4 Mk2 enfield serial no PF 3109xx, matching . A nice gun. Markings are electro penciled, is that correct? Is this part of the Irish contract? Is there some other markings I need to look for? The price is $400.00 for the gun, is that a good price? Steve

Many regard the 'Irish Contract' as those rifles between PF 309348 and PF 359347, so yes. Correct as described and a fair price in the Southwest if like new, perhaps not long out of the 'wrap'. Mine is MK2 (F) 12/54 P.F.333083.

Should there be any markings on the wrist? There are not any markings on the wrist, maybe at one time.

I'm away from my collection right now but don't recall any marks on wrist. I recall mine is imported stamped on the barrel near front sight, 'C.A.I.' etc., for Century Arms International. Mine is still in the wrap, as I have other lovely, post war shooters.

I went back to the gun show today and bought the Mk2. The correct serial # is PF 310559. All matching. All the parts that I check are marked F53. Near mint bore. Where any of the Irish Contract rifles issued. I did not find any import markings.

Well done. Photos please. Look it over really closely and tell us about all the markings you find. Import stamp could be small and very discreet on the barrel. You may find some 'BNP tons' etc. stamps from when it was proofed for release to the civilian market. Do a search on this forum for 'Irish Contract', a wealth of information already here.

How is the "black" finish on the metalwork? Mine is also marked "F53" on some parts.

My black finish is in just good condition appears to be a gloss black. Some of the stamping on the gun. Left side of wrist 99/PB, broad arrow then PD to the left. Bolt head has crossed flags. Bolt handle has crossed flags over broad arrow, electric penciled PF 310559, underneath side is marked F53. Clip marked F53, electiric penciled PF 310559. Butt stock stamped by trigger guard F53 then another place F54. Rear sight CR403. Forend wood stamped PF 310559. Both bands marked F53. Medal cap marked N67. On the right side of stock on the flat piece next to the reciever is stamped, I think 99/PD. I have not taken the wood off yet. The gun shoots great. No problems. I will try to get pictures up soon.
