    Seeking advice about a DP-stamped No1Mk3

    Hello everyone,

Here's a barreled receiver which I recently acquired; upon inspection, I noticed this DP mark in what I consider an unusual place:

Another peculiarity is this extra number on the receiver:

Seeing this, I then looked more closely to everything else. The proof and inspection marks on the right side of the barrel attracted my attention. Isn't there some stamping on TOP of the usual ones seen there?

All of this brings me to ask: what's going on, and what should I do with this barrel and receiver?

    Thanks in advance, dear colleagues,

    Lou

Thansk Badger, there's at least one post in there which I hadn't found or read before! I'll get busy reading, once the coffee is done brewing.

I guess my question will eventually become: what can be salvaged: the barrel, the bolt, or nothing except maybe the front sight base retaining pin...

Your rifle was proofed at least one - maybe twice - after it left service as a DP. Ergo the Birmingham proof house thought it was safe enough to use....

Thanks Thunderbox. What info on the barrel tells us this?
