A Stock Marking Not Seen Very Often

I just purchased an early IBM 10-43 with a high wood stock. The marking is not the normal SCB, but it is marked S & C . John

I would assume that it would be an early one for Sprauge and Carleton Co. before they had to use one with the B in it. They were the only company to make stocks out of birch and were used by IBM.

Bruce, They were NOT the only company to make Birch stocks. I have a very nice conditon Trimble/TN made for NPM that is birch.

Jim, I misstated as I was trying to say that IBM was getting birch stocks from S&C and S&C was the first stock maker to use birch. My bad sorry.

According to the C.C. newsletters there has only been one data sheet reported to date with this marking. I'm happy. John

Hi Charlie, It is the same stock. I purchased the carbine from Mike. So I think we are back to only one other that has been listed with the C.C.. He is correct on the butt plate bad fit. John

I first wondered if that might be one in the same. Picture wasn't big enough to compare.
