GUNSHOW FIND M-39 I hope it was worth the wait.

I stood in a line of about 250 folks to enter the local gunshow. Wide spred panic here over proposed changes to gun control legislation. Before I step off into the prohibited subject of politics here she is. I finally found an M-39. TGI import marked bolt and barrel serial numbers match with forced match serialed antique reciever. Bore looks very good though the interior of the reciever and trigger group have some pitting. Typical Finn finger groved furniture. probably paid a bit much and certainly waited in line to long but over all a happy camper.

Mine is an excellent shooter. Big issue is reloading correctly--see some of the other posts on this rifle. These rifles have a a fascinating history!

Aware of the potential for a tight bore and reputation as real shooters. Very interested in the history and am searching for books to expand my knowlege of the subject.
The pitted reciever is a bit of a disapointment but if it was good enough for the Finns is is good enough for me.

It did and seems correct but the oval buckle seems inconsistant with the pictures I can find. Any thoughts?

The sling is a Finnish 1930s Civil Guard example - technically correct for an M39 as the Finns used whatever slings they had on hand. Here's a few slings that would be more correct...

But seeing as your rifle wears a post-war stock, one of these is also appropriate..

.....because we have photographic evidence of at least one Finnish soldier with a Carcano sling on his M39...
