    Gew88 regimental marking.

I realize these '88s are not Mausers, but I had to ask this here as the Germanicon/Mauser info is more than adequate! Found a VERY nice Gew88 today, regimental marking is 2 GG RR, with what appears to be a small 104 beneath it. Anyone know what this designation is? It's an 1890 Spandau, if that helps. Thanks!

2nd. Grenadier Guards, Reserve Regiment. Company n, weapon 104

There should be a number n. for the company, and then the number of the weapon.

I.e the full format would be:
    2.G.G.R.R.n.104

Have another look and see if you can make out the company number.

Yes, can just see a 1 before the 104. Thanks very much!

Would this by chance be the 2nd Guard Grenadiers (Emperor Francis?)
I would be curious to know if there was a chance that this rifle saw action in the Boxer Rebellion, or limited use in the First World War.
