    .307 barrel and nice headspace

I received a nice 1954/'55 HRA from CMPicon. Headspace looks great with a field gauge:

I slugged the barrel, and measure either 306 across the slug in one direction, and 307 across the other. Is that unusual?

Show us a picture with a go gauge

Are you using a gi gauge.

Hard to tell but it looks like the extractor is in place.

You're right, I forgot to pull the extractor! Ignore the picture; I'll check it again next time I have it apart.

I've been lightly cleaning the barrel daily: three passes with an Otis patch and liberal Ed's Red bore cleaner, three passes with an Otis bore brush, then three passes with a damp patch. The patches after the brush are dark every day (more black than blue).

I'm wondering if I should just keep on cleaning daily until i clean, or speed thing up with some serious cleaner.

Clean it until you're done. Then you're done. Probably nothing more serious needed than elbow grease...
    Regards, Jim
