Grips for 1911A1

I have a very nice Colt 1911A1 [1943 USGI] but it has the wrong grips on it, Can any one tell me where I can find an org.set with the large reinforcing rings around the screw holes in the grips, I did order a set from Siemens [I think] a few years back, but they look really bad.
Scott Gahimer, would you have any advice ? Thank you all.

Simpson Ltd. has grips for most 1911A1 makers. They want $30.00 for the early version and $15.00 for the later grips. Regards. Tom

I ordered a pair from Simpson LTD. [in my post I called the co. Siemens, I meant Simpson]. the pair they sent were in such bad shape I would not put them on the gun.
But I thank you anyway .

What a shame. I traded for a Sistema Colt some time ago that was sans grips and ordered a pair of WWII grips from Simpsons. They were/are perfect. Simpsons has a reputation of having prices a little high but always accurate descriptions. Did you call and complain? If so; did they make good? Disappointing in any case. Tom

I only paid $15 for the grips, so to me it was not worth the time and effort to send them back, but I did learn to never buy any thing else from Simpson's again.
All though their was no pic. the description was not accurate at all.

Yesterday I bought a set on ebay,... from the pic,s and description they are in exc. condition, I will know thur. when they are del. they were a lot more exp. then the ones from Simpson,s but that's ok, at least they will match the gun.

FWIW, when I needed grips for my Rand, I ordered 3 sets, got enough good panels to make 2 good sets, the third set was trash. At this price, better to order enough to ensure success.

Finding a good, unused pair is super hard. Most of those are in the unused pistols that reside in collections. I have bought several from Simpson's, I expected them to be used/worn, but not broken. In fact, one time I bought a pair from them and the right panel was cracked. I called them and they immediately put another PAIR out in the mail for me. Can't complain about the price either.

Since my pistol has the original worn out finish, I do not mind having worn grips on it. It adds to the vintage look/patina.

I did pay $50 for the ones on ebay, they had just the right amount of wear [perfect], and were correct for my late 1911A1 Colt , the $15 pair that Simpson sent were comp. worn out, not worth the $15. I am very happy with the ones I got on ebay.

I am glad you found a good pair!

Simpson is a "hit or miss" kind of deal. They sell used stuff and I expected to get fair/worn grips. I've had good luck with them, I got grips in fair condition, and like I said, they sent me another pair because they sent me a cracked one by mistake.

I did find a near mint pair on ebay for 15 bucks, the seller had listed them as plastic, off brand. They turned out to be original Keyes. Score!
