Need help identifying a M1A stock maker

Is it an M1A stock or a match stock? I've seen some of those that were bigger...

I believe is is a match sock. Slightly wider than normal. Very solid and a tight fit.

I looked at a Fajen stock I have here but there are distinct differences. Maybe Boyd's?

No, the cutouts and inletting tell the tale. I don't really know how many stock makers in the USA made match M14 stocks. There's also Dupage Trading. Jim had a few different stock makers making new replacement wood at one time. You might ask him.

So, with no FA switch cutout, It must be an M1A stock?

It looks like it is the same stock that is on my M1A that I had made at SAI custom rifle shop. It is the heavy match. Overall they are about 1/4" wider at the cross bolt.

If that's the S/N inside the barrel channel then it was off a roughly March 2008 M1A. (Date courtesy Lee Emerson's database.)

There's a somewhat fatter than GI stock and a super fat version as well.

I don't know from what companies Springfield Inc has contracted stocks, but there must be several! Contours and inletting have changed a fair amount over the years.

My SAI is a 1990, and probably came with a collector stock. I just bought the rifle, and I believe that it has been modified from the original build. I know the barrel was changed as was the OP Rod and some other small parts. I guess the stock was also a replacement. The person I bought it from was not the original owner. The good news is that on the first range trip, I shot consistent 2 MOA groups. Before you say something is wrong, I'll let you know that it is my eyes. I kept seeing two front sights. I need some dedicated shooting glasses that allow focusing on the sights rather than the target.
