    Identifying USGI stock?

Hey guys, I recently purchased a new "C" stock for my M1903A3 from Northridge (through EBay) and I have some concerns. First, the stock looks nothing like the one they had listed, but that's understandable if they have multiples of them. What does concern me is it looks like the stock was already stained, and the only marking on it is an "X" made with a red pen in the barrel channel. The stock set came in an original looking box, but it was obviously opened at one point so it wouldn't be hard to put a reproduction stock in it.

From some of my research it seems as though there should be a number stamped somewhere (kinda like an NSN) to help identify it as USGI.

I'll have some pics up in a few, and would appreciate any input you may have. Thanks!

Northridge got a huge pile of "C" stocks from Europe 10 plus years ago. All real and out of the FN plant closing. I think they still have a few left and I would guess it is a real GI stock. Pictures would help.

Thanks for the info. I did a search and didn't find that info anywhere. Anyway, here's the pics:

Looks like an old patch got stuck to the tape:

And here's the one with the only mark I can find:

I can say it isn't stained and it's going to look real good once you oil that black walnut. Very nice grain structure.!

Thanks guys. It looked a lot darker in the house than it did when I took it out for the pictures, especially when the pictures they had posted showed a much lighter wood. I plan on giving it a nice hand rubbed coat of raw linseed oilicon. Thanks again!

Definitely will. I also picked up a really nice, new M1icon Garand stock set that I'll be doing.

No "K" in the recess for the cutoff? Looks like a Keystone stock.
