    Question Phosphated No.4 Mags

Who produced No.4 Mags that had a phosphated finish?

Might be hard to tell in the picture - but there is a green hew ...

Picture shows a No 1 magazine, rather than a No 4. These are often phosphate finshed/ "parkerized".

Well, here's an associated very old and lengthy thread discussing Enfield magazines, which might help add to the discussion ...

    Amatuer's guide to Enfield magazines??

    Regards,
    Doug

That thread was a great help. So if I have this correct then (from Left to Right) are:

    1. SMLE Magazine with cutout for the mag cutoff
    2. A No.1 Magazine that may have had a No.4 follower added? ( mag from the initial post )
    3. A No.4 Magazine

The one in the middle appears to be a standard later-made Australianicon SMLE mag.

L to R 3rd variation No1 mag, case should be stamped with a 3 that is most likely over a 2, conversion of earlier No1 mags for use with MkVI & VII ammo, auxillary spring should be stamped with a 3 & the follower a 2.'

4th variation No1 mag for use with MkVI & VII ammo, case & auxillary spring stamped with a 4 the follower a 3, both of these mags were fitted to MkIIIs & MkIII*s

    No4 mag.
