    Can't Id Code

    I have a 98 Mauser that appears to be Germanicon. The action is stamped j 47. I have heard that it may have been manufactured by Sauer. Can anyone help please.

    Book I have The Standard Dictionary of Proof Marks with Germanicon WWII Ordnance Codes By Gerhard Wirnsberger translated by R.A Steindler Page 184 - j - unknown as is on Page 185 also unknown - jmh, jtt, jvb, jvd some of the other forumers may have better resource than I.

    Possibly 147 ??

    I think you may be misreading 147

    147 was a mark used by Sauer & Sohn, in Suhl

    Is the mark worn or damaged? How about a photo?

    I took another look and it is 147 rather than J47. Thanks for correcting me.
