    Original stock finish?

What type of wood finish did the Italianicon's use on the carcano's?

    BLOicon, Shellac?

Most I have seen have an oil finish. Many also have a redish stain applied but not all. Certain special models are said to have a varnish type finish but I've never ran into one that is original.
