original finish on carbine?
I have a 1947 No.5 Mk.1 Jungle Carbine, and all the metal's been painted black. I'm assuming this is not the original finish, although it's well-worn, can anyone tell me what the original finish should be? I have a thread here that's full of photos of this little rifle. My new No.5 carbine! - Military Surplus Collectors Forums
If this has been covered before, and there's already a thread about this, could someone just shove me in that direction?
Thanks!

The black paint is called Suncorite and is the correct finish for your No.5.
Nice carbine you have there. To bad about the D&T but at least you don't have to worry about shooting it.

Thank you sir! Nice to know that. Can that paint be found, or is it made of unobtainium? Anything special about it, any acceptable substitutes? Perhaps any automotive finishes, like from Eastwood Co.?
I don't know that I'll refinish/refurbish this carbine, but since it's already been D&T......
