    Ross 1905 NkII 3*

I had one of these rifles I purchased several years ago. Nice bore, but bubba had cut the stock down just forward of the mid band.

A gunsmith friend of mine purchased recently at a gun show another MkII 3*. Stock was all there, but the handguard was missing, as was the rear sight.

I was able to trade for the rifle. Both of these Rosses have US surcharge markings, but no LC marks on the chambers.

My Plan was to take the two rifles and make one complete rifle. I will go with whichever one has the best bore.

Left over will be onw which I could get looking decent by grafting on the front of a P14 stock and front band. All I would still have to find would be a correct rear sight.

Well, it looks like I'll have to do something different. The complete stock was sanded were it would meet up on the sides with the handguards, so the upper handguards stand proud of the foreend. Darn. Good thing is I have the complete stock to measure for an added foreend for the bubba'd one.

What about having a reproduction handguard modeled after your original? Then you could sand down the reproduction to fit.

What Martin suggests is exactly what I've done in the past, works well!
